Celebrated for its hospitality and friendly people, the province is a lively, visual mix of 13 different ethnic groups, many of whom continue an ancient way of life and time-honored traditions.

The Sisters’ Meal Festival in April is one of the most popular and colorful festivals in the area and attracts thousands of natives from many miles around.

It provides a dazzling display of local dress, and a lot of entertainment and excitement. You will sit down with the villagers, play with children, learn their sewing and batik techniques, enjoy the ceremonies, and eat delicious food.

    Day 1 Depart for Beijing. Cross the International Date Line to the wonders of China. In-flight meals.

    Day 2 Arrive in Beijing. You will be met by your local guide at Beijing International Airport and be transferred to our hotel. The balanced of the day is at leisure. Welcome Peking duck dinner tonight. (D)

    Day 3 Beijing After breakfast, visit Tienanmen Square, which at 98 acres is the largest public square in the world and site of many history-making events. Tour the impressive Forbidden City. A visit to the 15th century Temple of Heaven shows you where the emperors made offerings for the harvest. Now it is a popular place for local people to play chess, practice tai chi or sing Peking opera. Evening acrobatic show. (B, L)

    Day 4 Beijing Morning drive to Birds Nest and Water Cube Olympic venues for pictures. Stop over at a jade factory for a brief educational tour. Lunch at a local farmer’s restaurant. Proceed to the Great Wall in the Mutianyu area. You will take a cable car up to the top of the wall and take a wheeled toboggan ride down from the wall on a winding metal track. Your family will absolutely love this experience! This is the best section of the wall for our kids. Evening is at leisure for your family to explore Beijing on your own. (B, L)

    Day 5 Beijing Today’s visit will be to the famous Beijing Zoo. The Beijing Zoo was originally an Imperial Park during the Ming Dynasty and in the late Qing period (1908). Now the Zoo covers over 50 hectares, with more than 600 species from all over China and other countries as well, including golden monkeys, Yangtze alligators, red crowned cranes, and tigers from the northeast of China. The star of the show will be the Giant Panda. The best time to catch these lovable sleepyheads is in the morning. You will spend the morning at the Zoo and followed by a “back alleys” rickshaw Hutong tour of Chinese life at its most traditional and obtain a fascinating behind-the-scenes glimpse into the lifestyles of the local people. Fly to Guiyang, capital of Guizhou in the evening. (B,L)

    Day 6 Kaili In the morning Visit the Qingyan Ancient Town and drive 2.5 hours through the beautiful countryside of terraced hillsides and quaint towns to reach Kaili. Kaili is the gateway to literally thousands of minority ethnic villages. It is the capital of the Southeast Guizhou Miao & Dong Nationalities Autonomous Prefecture with over 65% population of minority groups. Its surrounding villages still retain their original culture and charm. They provide beautiful countryside of terraced hillsides and quaint towns and wooden villages. You will experience the everyday life of the locals and see their colorful costumes & embroidery and silverware. (B.L.)

    Day 7 Kaili/Shidong/Kaili Drive to Shidong to attend the Sisters’ Meal Festival. This festival, Once a local affair which provided opportunities for Miao men and women to meet and begin their courtship, this festival attracts thousands of natives who have gathered from many miles around, and has now become a major tourist attraction. It provides a dazzling display of local dress, and a lot of entertainment including clamor of drums, firecrackers, song and Dance, bullfighting, horse racing, singing and dancing competitions and even beauty contests! You will be deeply impressed by the splendid scene. Return to Kaili in the evening. (B.L.)

    Day 8 Kaili A full day to attend the Sister’s Meal Festival. Explore the festival’s activities: Bull-fighting, dragon-boat race, wooden-drum dance and local market. Return to Kaili in the evening.(B.L)

    Day 9 Miao Village Today we will follow an unbeaten path down to south Guizhou, meet the extremely hospitable Miao people in Danzhai County, admire their dazzling handmade color paper and wx printing cloth. Shiqiao Village of Danzhai County is one of the villages where villagers continue to earn their living by producing and selling hand-made papers and products. Drive to Guiyang in the late afternoon.     Day 10 Exit Guiyang This morning you will be transferred to the airport in time for your connecting flight. (B)

Reservation and Payments: A $500 per person deposit is required to secure your reservation. Final payment will be due 90 days before departure. Tour cost is based on current exchange rate and subject to change due to foreign currency fluctuation.

Cost of Tour Does Not Include: International roundtrip airfare not listed in the “Included Features” section; passport and visa application fee trip cancellation and baggage insurance, personal items and expenses, airport transfers for those not on groups flights, excess baggage; airport taxes gratuities to guides, drivers and tour leader optional programs, panda holding fee trip extension, orphanage visit, transportation to/from orphanage, orphanage approval fee to civil affairs, meals not listed as included, soft drinks and alcoholic beverages or at any other time not mentioned as included. Passport and Visa: A valid passport for at least six months after the date of return is required. We can apply for the Chinese visa on behalf of tour participants. Please click Visa to China for more information.

Medical Responsibilities: Medical or other unexpected expenses during the trip are the responsibility of the participant. We advised participants to obtain travel insurance. Information about insurance will be send to you upon receipt of deposit. Use of a Chinese medical facility requires prepayment prior to the physician seeing/treating the patient, even in emergency situation. Travel to China can be difficult for hose with disabilities or requiring special medical attention/services. We ask that you consult your physician prior to the tour program and obtain necessary immunization and medications.

Cancellation Policy: Chinese Cultural Exchange (CCE) must strictly adhere to its cancellation policy to offset costs incurred prior to the commencement of the tour, which may include, but are not limited to: advance payments to land operators, communication expenses; development/promotional expenses; and the loss of time that might have permitted resale of reserved space. Cancellation for all or any part of the trip will not be effective until they are received in writing in the office of CCE. Cancellation received after confirmation of booking and up to 90 days before departure, is subject to a $300 per person cancellation fee. No refunds will be given for cancellation within 90 days of departure. We strongly recommend for your protection that you purchase Trip Cancellation Insurance. Cancellation insurance forms can be requested from us.

Basis of Rates: All prices are based on two persons sharing a room. All prices and fares are quoted in U.S. dollars. The rates are based on current tariffs and are subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances. While we will do everything possible to maintain the listed prices, if it is necessary to levy a surcharge, we reserve the right to do so, and notification will be given at the time of final invoicing.

Photography: Chinese Cultural Exchange and our partner organizations reserve the right to take photographs or videos during the operation of any tour or part thereof and to use the resulting photography for Chinese Cultural Exchange promotional purposes. By making a reservation with Chinese Cultural Exchange, participants agree to allow their images to be used in such photography.

Liabilities Clause: CCE and the sponsoring organization act only as agent for the passenger with respect to travel services. We assumes no responsibility or liability in whole or in part for any injury, damage, loss, delays, delayed or changed departure or arrival, missed carrier connection, weather, strikes, acts of God, circumstances beyond our control, war, quarantine, criminal activity, expense, accident, sickness, injury or death to person or property, or mechanical defect, failure or negligence of any nature howsoever caused in connection with any accommodations, restaurant, transportation or other services or for any substitutions of hotels, or of common carrier equipment beyond our control, with or without notice, or for any additional expenses occasioned thereby. If due to weather, flight schedules or other uncontrollable factors you are required to spend an additional night, you will be responsible for your own hotel, transfers and meal costs. No refund will be made for any unused portion of the tour due to these causes or voluntary cancellations, Baggage and personal effects are the sole responsibility of the participant at all times. The right is reserved to decline to accept or retain any person as a member of these tours at any time. CCE reserves the right to change the itinerary of the tour without prior notice. CCE shall not be liable for any loss whatsoever to passengers by reason of such cancellation, substitution or changes. If the tour is cancelled by CCE for any reason, CCE shall have no liability beyond the refund of all tour participants’ deposits received by it. CCE may increase the tour price in the event of cost increases. The airline tickets when issued shall constitute the sole contract between the air company concerned and the purchaser of these tours and/or passenger. The carriers are not responsible for any act, omission, or event during the time tour participants are not aboard their conveyance. By registering for this tour, tour participant certifies that he or she is mentally and physically capable of full participation in this tour. Upon payment of a deposit, tour participant indicates acceptance of the above terms and conditions.
